			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thanks to the state&#8217;s new Delaware Virtual School, Johnson is taking Spanish I without dropping anything from her agenda.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been really good for us because she&#8217;s been able to keep her schedule at school,&#8221; her mother, Christine Johnson, said. &#8220;And since it&#8217;s being done through the school system, we don&#8217;t have to pay for it, so it&#8217;s an excellent idea.&#8221;</p>
<p>The state piloted the virtual school in January with 284 high school students from 18 of the state&#8217;s 19 school districts. Six courses &#8212; Algebra I, pre-calculus, Spanish I, Spanish II, American government and physical education &#8212; are available. The coursework and the instructors are provided by <a href="http://www.bestonlinehighschools.com/directory/property/online-high-schools/florida-virtual-school">Florida Virtual School</a> and Apex Learning in Washington.</p>
